RED FLAGS 1: Proof Of No Shade
Most Hoover Dam tour companies will never tell you that during the warmer months there isn’t much shade anywhere on or around the Hoover Dam. The heat from the direct sunlight can be too intense in the spring, summertime & fall. The lack of enough shade confines people to the cooler shaded areas preventing them from exploring most of the Hoover Dam. These cooler shaded areas often get over crowded due to the lack of shade. Also, it limits people from exploring the Hoover Dam in it’s entirety.

RED FLAG 2: Las Vegas Sign Scam Tactics
Beware of companies who include the Las Vegas sign as a stop never actually stop there. Its the 2nd most famous sign in the world and from the early morning until 10pm there’s always a super long line. Most will take you there knowing that you have no idea of the long line that awaits you. Upon your arrival they know that you will want to skip it and go straight to your hotel.
This is also a selling point which increases their bookings because it makes their tour more appealing without them actually having to add an extra stop there. They take you there, act like the lines too long and they count on you to agree with them so that they can do a drive by instead stopping. Customers always agree after seeing the intimidating line.

Red Flag 3: Hoover Dam Bus Tours Are 2 Hours Longer
The reason why their Hoover Dam bus tours takes 5 hours compared to our Hoover Dam Private tour which takes only 3 hours is because they use buses and we don’t. They won’t tell you that they spend the 2+ hours picking people up & dropping them off afterwards. (56 People Per Bus) They must pickup/drop off at the 31 different hotel locations from the strip to downtown las vegas. They literally spend more time on the bus for pick-ups & drop-offs then they do traveling to and from the Hoover Dam which is only a 35 minute drive each way. (1hr For Pickups & 1hr+ For Dropoffs)
Most of the restaurants on the Las Vegas strip require reservations to be made in advance. But most miss their reservations because they do not when they are going to be dropped off at their hotel once they arrive to the strip. Red Flag 4: Beware of what kind of vehicle that you will travel in. Eighty percent of Las Vegas based tour bus companies are very good selling their viewers on their tours. Their websites & itineraries look very appealing and are very well put together. But they skip two very important things. The vehicle that they use are buses and the exact time that you will arrive back at your hotel is not visible on their websites. Why? Tourist often book with them based on their itineraries but they conveniently skip over the fact that they are buses. Some sites even contain photos of luxury minivans like Ford Transits or Mercedes Benz Sprinters but upon their arrival they show up in buses. There are some bus companies that provide good bus tours but if you’re the type who would rather know what kind of vehicle that you will be traveling in then look no further.
